Daring Greatly at Belly Up Tavern
Describing their music as blood harmony rock, Daring Greatly relocated from Calgary, AB Canada to San Diego in August 2015. The band is fronted by Dail Croome and his two sons, Patrick and Liam, who were brought up on stage with their father when they were five and three years old, respectively. Their June 22 concert in Solana Beach includes guitar rockers Band of Gringos, with members all born and raised in Ocean Beach.
Aviator Stash at Music Box
Aviator Stash was founded in Carlsbad circa 2014, going on to become a staple on the local indie rock scene. In August 2021, their full-length Psiyh took home a San Diego Music Award for Best Indie/Alternative Album. The bill for their June 23 appearance at the Music Box includes four-piece indie pop band Peach Cooler and Capistrano Beach alt-surf rocker Wes Chiller.
Hirie at Del Mar Fairgrounds
Female-fronted pop reggae rockers Hirie were nominated Best World Music at the 2013 San Diego Music Awards. Their sophomore album Wandering Soul, released in summer 2016, debuted at number one on the iTunes Reggae Chart and climbed as high as number 39 overall on iTunes. The band will be opening for reggae star Stephen Marley on June 24 in Del Mar.
Glass Spells at Casbah
Glass Spells is a synth pop group featuring founding bassist/keyboardist Anthony Ramirez, backed by singer Tania Costello. Their video for “Empty Road” racked up over 13,000 views in its first few weeks on YouTube, featuring scenes shot around San Diego including footage of the drive into downtown and the roller coaster at Belmont Park. They play June 24 in Little Italy.
Fred Benedetti at First Presbyterian Church
Born Fred Masataka Benedetti in Sasebo, Japan, Fred Benedetti began playing the guitar at age nine. He has performed for the king and queen of Malaysia, Mikhail Gorbachev, and President Jimmy Carter. On June 25 downtown, Benedetti will stage a show titled Songs For My Mother & Father, featuring music inspired by his Japanese and Italian heritage with selections such as “Koyunbaba” by Carlo Domeniconi and “Variations on Sakura” by Yuquijiro Yocoh.
