Run With the Sun Fest, Switchfoot Bro-Am Fest, Old Town Temecula Fest, Lou Curtiss celebration, Blink-182 reunion

Rock, reggae, alternative, indie, and rap music comes to Sycuan Recreation Center on June 16 and 17 with a two day music festival in El Cajon. The Friday bill includes Sprung Monkey, Urethane, Project Sell Out, WarFever, Malaki, Steeltoe, Papa Halo, The School Of Rock House Band, and more. Among the Saturday performers are Eli-Mac, Eureka Sounds, Smigg Dirtee, Natural Selection, One-Way Sky, Modern Hearts, Black Mikey, and others.

Enjoy a whole day of surf contests, live concerts on the beach with Grammy award-winning rock band Switchfoot and musical guests. The free, family-friendly June 17 event includes brand activations, food and retail vendors, green initiatives, and more. Surf contests will be held from 7 am to 3 pm, with local band performances from 11 am to 4 pm, followed by Switchfoot playing until around 5 pm.

Happening Saturday, June 17 in Temecula, the all-ages Old Town Music Festival runs from noon until 10 pm, with a variety of rural and pop-country acts, as well as line dancing, mechanical bull riding, food vendors, full bars, and more. Scheduled performers include Big & Rich, Eddie Montgomery, Creed Fisher, Cowboy Troy. Coffee Anderson, and Runaway Jane.

Reunited Poway trio Blink-182 had to cancel the first leg of their big reunion tour after drummer Travis Barker suffered an injury to his finger, requiring surgery. They’ll finally return to the city that spawned them for a two-night stand, June 19 and June 20. The bill includes Turnstile.

Local musicians will turn out downtown to pay tribute to Lou Curtiss on June 23, where the long-in-progress film Recordially Yours, Lou Curtiss will debut. Curtiss launched the San Diego Folk Festival and Adams Ave. Unplugged Festival, as well as operating Folk Arts Rare Records, a mecca for Jack Tempchin, Jason Mraz, Tom Brousseau, A.J. Croce, George Winston, Sue Palmer, Alison Brown, Tomcat Courtney, Tom Waits, Gregory Page, Mike Seeger, Sam Hinton, Sam Chatmon, and many others.
