Homeless declare sleep space “less homey”

Surprisingly, the homeless — who until now have lived freely in San Diego’s bucolic canyons and along its picturesque Downtown streets — have proved less than eager to camp out on a patch of asphalt surrounded by fences and razor wire. But Mayor Gloria says he is not concerned. “Once we really get the message out there and explain to them that this is their only option, we’re confident they’ll come around,” he told reporters. “Who doesn’t want to be safe and secure?”
