Celebrating beach culture, the reggae-filled bill at this year’s San Diego Bayfest includes Damian Marley, Common Kings, Koffee, Prof, Denm, and Kahlil Nash, with DJ sets from Unite and Green T. According to event promoters, “Our focus is on these key event elements: Music, Location, Food and Beverages. Six String Society’s Gospel Revival at the Star Theatre July 8

The Six String Society presents gospel music, hosted by Ms. Gino Walker and starring Vallejo ensemble The Sons of the Soul Revivers. Performers include Whitney Shay, Joe Amato, Ben Powell and Sir Robert Parker. Six String Society’s Gospel Revival happens July 8 at Oceanside’s Star Theatre, which was once nearly demolished after an ignoble late-1980s period when the Pussycat Theater chain leased it to show adult films.

Steely Damned 2 at the Belly Up July 12

The Steely Damned 2 is a Steely Dan tribute band faithfully reproducing the songs and guitar solos made famous by Larry Carlton, Denny Diaz, Elliott Randall, Rick Derringer, and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter. Co-founding guitarist Hank Easton began playing while still in grade school, later studying at The Cleveland Institute of Music. They’ve been known to play entire Steely Dan albums, such as Aja and The Royal Scam. They appear July 12 at the Belly Up.
