Miniaturized cycles, MohaviSoul performs, Cardiac Kidz reissues, Crocodiles inundates, Tolan Shaw reproduces

Miniaturized includes members of Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Pinback, Earthless, Buckfast Superbee, No Knife, and others. Their new single “The Most,” precedes a self-titled debut album due March 31. “’The Most’ comes from personal experience involving the perpetually downward cycle of addiction,” says singer-guitarist Timothy Joseph. “For those who have been through it or love someone who has, it’s a dark world unto itself.”

“We released a single called ‘PCH-928,’” reports MohaviSoul singer-mandolinist Randy Hanson. “We also had several performance videos for our MVR record label holiday special for our song ‘Fourteen Days’ and a cover of ‘Whitehouse Road’ by Tyler Childers.” Both performance videos can be found on YouTube.

On February 20, Breakout Records will re-release the Cardiac Kidz’ pioneering punk vinyl single for “Get Out” b/w “Find Yourself A Way.” “It’s 44 years later,” notes singer-bassist Jim Ryan, “Alex Baggati has been working undercover with me to make this happen. It was supposed to be timed with a Cardiac Kidz documentary release, but the film is still in post production.”

The upcoming Crocodiles full-length Upside Down In Heaven (due April 7 via Lolipop Records) is preceded by a single for “Degeneration.” “’Degeneration’ was written in the boiling, diseased summer of 2020 where I found myself overworked, underpaid, and choking on wildfire smoke,” says singer-keyboardist Brandon Welchez. “The free time I had was spent doom-scrolling the latest covid death toll or inundating myself with news of literal fascists marching the streets...talking about my degeneration beats actively seeking it out.”

“I’m releasing what I think is my best work yet, or at least most meaningful,” says singer-songwriter Tolan Shaw. “It’s a five song EP called Little Moon, which is the nickname of our five-month-old daughter Dela. It was written throughout last year as we rejoiced, cried about, prepared for, and deeply thought about the life changes that were happening.”
