What is your favorite beach to surf?

I like the shores, the Coronado Shores. It’s really easy for beginners. There is good swell for intermediate and advanced surfers. I mean, look out there, there is a guy who has been nose riding for like 30 minutes now. It’s unbelievable.

Are there any local beaches you avoid?

I don’t like going up to North County because it’s just so crowded. I like surfing down south because it’s not polluted here, and the water is tested regularly.

Have you had any crazy surfing injuries?

Sting rays! I have been stung multiple times. They get you!

What advice would you give new surfers?

Keep paddling.

Have you seen any crazy fights in the water between surfers?

Not here, no, but in Imperial Beach, yes. This beach is more family orientated. There are a lot of beginner surfers here.

Have you had any scary moments in the water?

Yes, surfing in Imperial beach I have gotten tied up in my leash. It’s like body whomping out there. It’s way more mellow here [in Coronado].

What has been your coolest wildlife experience?

Seeing dolphins out here. I see them all the time. It’s magical, especially in the morning when there is no one else out here.

What do you love the most about surfing?

It’s a thrill and it’s relaxing. It’s my me time.

Would you ever live away from the ocean?

No, I’m definitely going to be by the Pacific Ocean forever, I have to be. With inflation, I might end up in Rosarito.
