Stolen car submerges itself at National City launch ramp

Harbor Police stored a dinghy that was adrift near the Bali Hai dock in North Bay.

Harbor Police responded to the A-3 Laurel Street Anchorage for two suspicious subjects attempting to pull a dinghy out of the water. Harbor Police detained the subjects and determined they matched the description of subjects who had just illegally boarded a vessel on a nearby mooring ball. Harbor Police determined no one had made entry into the vessel and there were no missing items. The subjects were released, pending further investigation.

June 6

Harbor Police issued a citation to a Jet Ski operator for traveling too fast in a no-wake zone in Harbor Island.

Harbor Police issued a citation to a boater in the Shelter Island Basin for a registration violation.

June 5

Harbor Police impounded two dinghies that were left beyond the allowable time limit at a public dock in America's Cup Harbor.

Harbor Police responded to the National City launch ramp to investigate a stolen vehicle. The investigation soon led to them locating the car as it had rolled into the bay via the ramp and submerged itself. Harbor Police divers and tow companies retrieved the vehicle.

Harbor Police impounded a dinghy that was in a slip at the Harbor Police Transient slips without a valid permit.

June 4

Harbor Police investigated some graffiti that was painted on the underside of the Sonar Bridge in North Bay.

Harbor Police responded to a kayaker in South Bay that was unable to get back in his kayak after it capsized. The subject then drifted across the bay in the wind and tide. Harbor Police located the subject and transported him to a dock where medics evaluated him for hypothermia.

Harbor Police responded to Kona Kai Marina for a disturbance call and found it was a domestic violence incident. Harbor Police took one of the subjects into custody for the domestic violence.

June 2

Harbor Police investigated a fuel spill at their dock which was caused by a vessel attempting to clear Customs. The spill happened when a person unfamiliar with his vessel transferred fuel from one tank to another. Approximately two gallons were spilled and most of it was cleaned up by the owner.

May 28

Harbor Police responded to America's Cup Harbor for the report of a subject being shot by a BB gun. Harbor Police met with the subject who stated he had been shot in the leg by a BB gun while operating his vessel into the America's Cup Harbor. He showed the officers his leg wound and then handed them the BB that struck him. Harbor Police are investigating the location it was shot from and are checking video surveillance cameras.

Harbor Police responded to Driscoll’s Wharf for a disturbance call and found the disturbance was a verbal altercation between two friends. Harbor Police stood by and preserved the peace while one of the subjects moved their belongings from the vessel.

May 27

Harbor Police responded to the A-1 Anchorage for the report of a distressed subject in the water. Harbor Police located the subject aboard a vessel and found he was intoxicated and unable to care for his own safety. Harbor Police had the subject cleared by medical professionals and then took him to detox.
