February 17

Harbor Patrol located a subject in the Glorietta Bay area that was having difficulty rowing his 16' vessel back to the dock due to his engine being disabled. Harbor Patrol Towed the vessel back to the launch ramp.

Harbor Patrol investigated a possible sewage spill in the A-1 Anchorage.

February 16

Harbor Patrol contacted a sailboat near the entrance to SD Bay. A records check showed the vessel was stolen. The vessel and operator were transported to the Harbor Patrol dock for further investigation which then revealed the vessel was previously stolen and was recovered. It was not properly taken out of the stolen system. The vessel and operator were released.

Harbor Patrol responded to the Coronado Yacht Club to investigate a boating accident. It was found one vessel was attempting to dock in windy conditions and lost control, causing it to hit another docked vessel, resulting in minor damage only.

February 13

Harbor Patrol investigated a fuel sheen in the area of the Southwestern Yacht Club. The source is unknown and Harbor Patrol made notifications to all concerned environmental agencies.

Harbor Patrol contacted and warned the Captain of a Hornblower vessel that was coming dangerously close to a naval training vessel that had divers in the water.

Harbor Patrol responded to H&M Landing to investigate a Domestic Violence call. Harbor Patrol personnel boarded a sportsfishing vessel, located a victim and arrested the suspect.

February 12

Harbor Patrol Responded to the Maritime Museum to follow up on a Domestic Violence call which took place a few days earlier. A subject was contacted at the museum and was arrested for the Domestic Violence incident.

February 11

Harbor Patrol responded to the Marriott Marina to investigate a crime where a Hydro-Lift (boat lift) was taken. It was found the company that installed it took it back to fix and has not returned it in over a year. The company is now refusing to return calls.

Harbor Patrol issued a citation to a boater in the A-1 La Playa Cove Anchorage for not having a valid permit. A couple days later he was also at the Harbor Patrol guest slips without a permit. He was placed on a 30-day restriction from using all Harbor Police facilities.

February 9

Harbor Patrol issued a citation to a boater in South Bay for not having registration on his vessel.

Harbor Patrol contacted two subjects aboard a sailboat for illegal anchoring in South San Diego Bay. Several hours later the vessel was found still anchored in the same spot. Harbor Patrol impounded the vessel for illegal anchoring and no registration.

February 6

Harbor Patrol contacted a subject at the Harbor Police guest docks for having an outstanding warrant from SD County. The subject was taken to jail and his vessel was impounded.

February 5

Harbor Patrol issued a citation to a boater at the Harbor Police guest docks for not having a valid permit.

Harbor Patrol was contacted by two subjects regarding a possible stolen vessel in the Pier 32 Marina, National City. It was found there was an ongoing issue with other family members and the ownership of the vessel. Harbor Patrol personnel were told that SD courts decided the vessel was granted to them, however they had no paperwork to prove it. Harbor Patrol documented the civil issue.

February 4

Harbor Patrol contacted a vessel that was illegally anchored in La Playa Cove. The owner of the vessel was issued a citation for not having a permit.

February 3

Harbor Patrol was contacted by the owner of a vessel in the Kona Kai Marina regarding another subject who was attempting to sabotage his vessel. The owner reported that the subject draped a line under his vessel in hopes that it would entangle in his propeller. He also provided Harbor Patrol with other attempts the subject had previously done damage to the vessel. Harbor Patrol personnel are currently investigating.

February 1

Harbor Patrol issued a citation to a boater for not having a valid permit to stay at the Harbor Police guest slips. Due to the amount of times the subject was warned and previously cited, he was placed on a 60-day restriction from using any of Harbor Police facilities.

Harbor Patrol responded to a fuel spill at the 10th Avenue Terminal. It was found that a large US Coast Guard Cutter had accidentally spilled approximately 50 gallons of diesel on the sea wall and into the water. Coast Guard personnel immediately placed booms in the water and cleaned up the spill. All regional environmental agencies were contacted.

January 31

Harbor Patrol investigated an ongoing issue aboard a vessel in the Americas Cup Harbor. The owner of the vessel evicted a subject off his vessel but the subject keeps returning to the boat and cutting the lock. Harbor Patrol is still investigating and looking for the subject.

January 29

Harbor Patrol responded to a call of a subject who jumped into the bay off a pier next to Seaport Village. The subject was found to be mentally unstable and was taken to County Mental Health.

Harbor Patrol responded to a call of a subject who took a kayak from a dock at the A-3 Anchorage that was not his. Harbor Patrol located the subject who was attempting to cross the bay. An investigation found the subject was mentally unstable and he was transported to County Mental Health.

January 28

Harbor Patrol was dispatched to a vessel adrift near the Coronado Bridge and buoy #22. The vessel was adrift and still attached to its mooring ball, indicating it was from the nearby anchorage. The vessel was impounded and the SD Mooring Company later replaced the broken chain for the ball and returned the vessel.

Harbor Patrol responded to a call of possible intoxicated subjects aboard a vessel at the Sunroad Marina. Harbor Patrol found the subjects were aboard their vessel which was chained to the dock by the dock management. One of the subjects was found to have a laceration on their foot and was intoxicated. The subject was taken to the hospital for treatment.
