County unemployment rate flatlines

Unchanged from July, but 3200 non-farm jobs gained

The county unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in August, unchanged from a revised 4.7 percent in August, and down from 4.9 percent from a year ago.

The county added 3200 jobs in the month and 19,200 from a year ago. In the month, construction was the big winner, up 1200 jobs. Leisure and hospitality jobs were down 1000, according to the state's Employment Development Department.
