Singapore slings: numbers 21 and 22 of Navy scandal.

Neil Peterson and Linda Raja, former executives of Singapore's Glenn Defense Marine Asia, pleaded guilty in federal court today (May 9) to fraud charges, confessing that they submitted phony claims and invoices to the United States Navy to win millions of dollars for their scandal-plagued company. They are the 21st and 22nd individuals, including Navy officers, that have been charged so far in the long-running scandal.

Peterson was Glenn's vice president of global operations, and Raja was general manager for Singapore, Australia, and the Pacific Isles. Both admitted that the losses to the Navy were almost $35 million.

Separately today Navy Port Engineer John Nashan pleaded guilty to improperly administering projects at the Navy's Southwest Regional Maintenance Center. He admitted that he made recommendations affecting Navy contracts with Nev West, even though he made personal loans to a company official - - a clear conflict of interest.
