December 26

HP was contacted regarding two vessels that were not permitted and illegally anchored in the A-5 Anchorage, Glorietta Bay. Both owners were contacted and issued citations.

December 25

HP were dispatched to the Laurel Street Anchorage to investigate a large sailboat that was colliding with several other moored vessels. HP located the vessel and after contacting the operator, suspected him of being under the influence. After an investigation, the operator was arrested and taken to County Jail. The damage / cost to other vessels he collided with is still under investigation.

December 23

HP located a small sailboat that was adrift near Ballast Point and the entrance to SD Bay. The vessel was towed to the South Bay by Tow Boat US because it was a hazard to navigation.

December 21

HP contacted a boater in the A-9 Anchorage who was illegally anchored. After issuing a citation for the offense, they took the subject to jail because of an outstanding warrant.

December 20

HP issued a citation to a boater who did not have a permit and was illegally anchored in the A-5 Anchorage at Glorietta Bay.

December 19

HP were dispatched to meet with a boater who located a floating suitcase near the Coronado bridge. HP retrieved the suitcase which was filled with clothes. The suitcase was impounded at the San Diego Police Department as found property.

December 18

HP responded to the Coronado Cays for a vehicle that was in the water. HP vessel units and divers responded to the location and assisted with getting the vehicle out of the water. The operator and passenger were transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

HP responded to a diesel fuel sheen report in a Shelter Island marina. The environmental incident was documented and the required notifications were made. The cause is under investigation.

December 17

HP responded to Driscoll’s Wharf to investigate a sunken vessel that was causing an environmental issue. HP located the sunken vessel and immediately made the required notifications for the cleanup of diesel fuel.

December 15

HP were dispatched to the Americas Cup Harbor to investigate a crime (theft of boat equipment) that occurred on a vessel. The crime has been turned over to detectives for further investigation.

December 11

HP issued a citation to a boater who did not have a permit and was illegally anchored in La Playa Cove (A-1 Anchorage).

HP responded to a vessel owner who contacted Harbor Police because he was unable to access the dock where his vessel was located. The dock is behind a Shelter Island business and Harbor Police found out that there was a civil dispute between the vessel owner and the owner of the business.
