Embarcadero accident — Coast Guard crew jumped in, clothes and all (video)

Coast Guard managed with much difficulty to get him onto a stretcher and pulled up on to the back of their boat.

Saturday, Aug. 5th, A man fell out of his boat this afternoon while in front of the South Embarcadero around 1:30 PM. Witnesses stated the man was then struck by his boat and received serious injuries to his arms. Emergency services were called with SDPD arriving on land and the Coast Guard the first to arrive on the water.

The man was wearing a life jacket on but appeared to be floundering in the water, able only to use his legs. Two of the Coast Guard crew jumped in, clothes and all to assist the man and managed with much difficulty to get him onto a stretcher and pulled up on to the back of their boat.

Unmanned boat continued to run around the bay (see video).

The man was obviously in a great deal of pain and it appeared he had a bone protruding from his upper arm. The police on the scene said the man was being taken to medical services on Coronado.
