June 2016 record releases by San Diego bands

Marcelo Radulovich has a new release this week, Insomnia Party Feathers, issued under the moniker Son of Radul. “It hops around various genres, instruments, and languages, with six songs in English, six in Spanish, and three instrumentals,” Radulovich says. “I played all the instruments and sang all the voices, as well as recording and producing. You can say Prince was a big influence on me.”

Blaze Eisner, whose previous EP was San Diego Music Awards–nominated Best Americana or Country Album in 2012, is back with a new five-song EP recorded by Sven Eric Seaholm and due June 1. “The EP is named Douglas, after a small town in Arizona, where I traveled while on the road for work,” he says.

Debora Galan and Silk will debut music from their All About Love CD on June 1, when they play two shows at California Center For the Arts Escondido. Taken by Canadians’ sophomore album We Eat You Like a Person premieres June 2 at the Casbah, for an all-locals bill that includes Jimmy Ruelas, Badabing, and Mrs. Henry.

Cancer survivor Danielle LoPresti’s June 3 release party for her long-delayed House of D album at the Music Box also serves as a farewell gig, as she and partner Alicia Champion are relocating to the Bay Area. Champion will also premiere her first single release in 13 years and her first music video.

The release party for More Dirt Less Seawater, the second EP from experimental doom-metal band Kalashnikov My Wife, happens June 3 at Soda Bar. “Most of the album was inspired by a one-armed man who sailed in the Baltic with my grandfather,” says singer/guitarist Petro Halkowycz. “It’s said that they met their end after they happened upon a kraken. Hence the need for more dirt and less seawater. It’s safer on land. Unless you’re eaten by a lion.”
