California State Bar shakes loose John Douglass Jennings

As of May 29, John Douglass Jennings will be officially disbarred. He has been ineligible to practice law since October 10 as a result of an action by the California State Bar Court, but the state Supreme Court has to take the final disbarment action, which it has now done.

The Reader has followed the antics of Jennings and his wife. They went into Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2011. Bankruptcy court judge Louise DeCarl Adler charged both Jennings and his wife with"embezzlement and/or larceny" in a transaction with "fraudulent and/or felonious intent." An appellate judge agreed with Adler.

Jennings was ineligible to practice beginning in October, but his former clients have shown me that he charged them almost $80,000 for "legal services" after October 10 and never informed clients that he was ineligible to practice law. As soon as the bar acted in October, Jennings set up a tax consultancy.
