Del Mar’s Boardroom

Like, wow, dude.

Beginning in the mid 20th Century, surfing culture was its music, clothing, and language. For decades, the boards were pretty much the same; the main difference being the long board and the short board.

Hobie, Noll, Hansen, and Weber led the charge in providing surfboards. Then marketers entered the lineup and surfing became about products and endorsements. Even nonsurfers adopted the clothes, the laid-back attitude, and lexicon of the sport. Like, wow, dude.
