There’s an All-Star Trumpet Summit at KSDS Jazz Live (14th & C streets) featuring Bobby Shew, Chuck Findley, Steve Huffsteter, and Ron Stout, with Mike Wofford, Dean Hulett, and Duncan Moore at 8 p.m. Concert is free to Jazz 88 members and runs $10 per ticket for general admission.

Wednesday 29
The Jazz 88 Blues Jam heats up at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) hosted by J. Otis Williams and guitarist Mark Augustin from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. No cover, family-friendly… Trumpet master Gilbert Castellanos has two gigs at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) beginning at 6 p.m. when he hosts the Young Lions Series and continuing at 8:30 when he leads the jam session until 11:30 p.m. All ages, no cover, no minimum.

Tiffany Jane & the Kicks with special guest violinist Melissa Barrison play Dizzy’s (4275 Mission Bay Drive) at 7 p.m. $15 at the door.

Friday 1
Get an early jazz start with the Rob Thorsen Trio featuring Joshua White and Johnny Steele at the CB Ellis Summer Concert Series (550 West C Street) at 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Free … The Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Fernando Gomez play the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle North) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No cover, validated parking… The Peter Kuhn Trio with Nathan Hubbard and Kyle Motl have a record-Release party at Bread & Salt (1955 Julian Avenue). Reception starts at 7 p.m. with the concert happening at 8 p.m. $10 at the door… The Conrad Herwig Latin Side All Stars play the Summertime Jazz Night on the rooftop of the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) $20 cash and you must be 21+ to attend… Also at the Westgate, trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos leads a trio with Rob Thorsen and Joshua White at the Plaza Bar from 8:30 p.m. $20 food/drink minimum.

Saturday 2
The Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Fernando Gomez play Ferro Restaurant (25840 Cedar Street, Idyllwild ) from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Free… Guitarists Peter Sprague and Fred Benedetti celebrate Guitar Beatles at Dizzy’s at 8 p.m. Tickets run $15 at the door.

Sunday 3
The Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio will host the Sunday jam session at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. 21+, no cover charge.
