Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos has two gigs at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado), beginning when he hosts the Young Lions Series at 6 p.m. and continuing at 8:30 when he leads the Latin jam session until 11:30. All ages, no cover charge, free parking… The KSDS Blues jam session goes down at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) led by guitarist Mark Augustin and hosted by radio personality J. New Jersey saxophonist Dayna Stephens leads an acclaimed quintet with Phillip Dizack on trumpet, Billy Childs on piano, Dave Robaire on bass, and Jonathan Pinson on drums at the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library (1008 Wall Street) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go for $21 for Athenaeum members, $26 general admission, $15 student rush.

There will be two shows at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. $25 at the door… Trio de Janeiro with Lori Bell, Ron Satterfield, and Tommy Aros play Dizzy’s at 8 p.m. Tickets go for $15 at the door.
