January 2, 2016

Subject broke into a 85’ Hornblower vessel shortly after midnight and was able to start the vessel and remove it from the dock. The vessel was later discovered missing by employees and shortly after observed by them in the area of buoy #19. HPD was then notified and responded to the vessel. Upon reaching the vessel the suspect jumped into the water in an attempt to escape. Suspect picked up by the HP vessel and subsequently arrested for numerous violations.

Christmas Day, 2015

Lifeguards respond to a 32 yr old surfer tangled in the pier. Medics evaluate patient after rescue for possible transport.

Lifeguards respond to glider port for a glider crash at Blacks Beach. Fire and Medics respond. Medics handle patient.

December 22, 2015

Swimmer in distress off of Tower 4 in Ocean Beach; 27 yr old female. Victim left all clothing on beach. PWC, Lifeguard, Rescue Vessel, Fire, Medic and SDPD respond. PWC effects rescue and SDPD transports Female to CMH.

December 12, 2015

Call box call of 3 surfers trapped inside the point at Pappy’s Pt. at Sunset Cliffs. 2 more surfers of the group were missing. Pappy’s IC is established and a southern area response is requested along with Copter. Rescue boat, Jet unit and copter search for the missing 2 surfers. Lifeguards and fire set up a rescue system to perform a cliff rescue on the 3 trapped on the cliff. Medic determines one of the surfers has a head injury and needs c-spine precautions. 2 missing surfers found climbing up the cliff into the parking lot, safe and no injuries. A 3 person cliff rescue is performed. The injured surfer is transported to UCSD. All surfers safe with no further injuries, all units clear.

December 9, 2015

OB guards make a water rescue on a surfer who was wrapped up on a pier piling. Patient evaluated by medics on shore and AMAs.

Multiple 911 calls for reporting two surfers waving for help at Osprey. Lifeguard, jet unit and a lifeguard rescue vessel respond. Jet unit makes a water rescue on the intermediate and transports to the beach at No Surf. The lifeguard rescue vessel picks up two surfers on the outside and transports back to the operations dock.

December 5, 2015

911 caller reports a surfer lost his board and is not able to make it into shore due to the large surf. Rescue vessel, Jet and Tower units respond. Rescue vessel is able to rescue the swimmer and Jet unit is able to rescue the board and another surfer who is struggling on the inside. The surfers are transported back to Lifeguard dock and driven back to Ocean Beach.

During the last rescue, the Jet unit was pushed into another surfer on the inside. The surfer claimed his elbow was injured in the process. The medics were called to respond along with SDPD to write up a vessel accident. The patient eloped when he found out SDPD was on the way. Clear.
