The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee met today to discuss the possibility of a Raiders stadium. The subject has come up before. Years ago, the National Football League wouldn't think of locating in a gambling mecca. That was when the league was sticking with the fiction that it wanted to avoid gambling. However, people in the know realize that the NFL was founded by and for gamblers and mobsters., and there won't be much objection to a Vegas team.

The population of the Vegas metro area is 2.07 million, 30th largest in the nation. The City of Oakland's population is 423,000. The metro area is much larger, of course, but is normally counted with San Francisco or with the entire Bay Area. Both Las Vegas and Oakland have a large humber of poor people who can't afford football games, but Las Vegas has a number of extremely rich people who could fill the plutocrat seats and boxes.
