Che Cafe supporters stage violent uprising against UCSD campus authorities

Viva la Revolucion?

A UCSD undergrad mans a machine gun nest outside the Cafe, now backed by a large concrete bunker that serves as revolutionary headquarters.

Faced with the closure of their beloved music venue and gathering space, and frustrated by the ineffectiveness of nonviolent protest, UCSD students today took up arms against their academic oppressors, turning the staid La Jolla campus into a bloody war zone. At this point, it is difficult to separate fact from rumor. But this reporter did receive a text from a source known only as CheFan69:

“The university, vanguard of our struggling people, cannot become a backward element, but it would become so if the university did not incorporate itself into the great plans of the Revolution. Today the people stand at the door of the university, and it is the university that must be flexible. It must color itself black, mulatto, worker, peasant, or else be left without doors. And then the people will tear it apart and paint it with the colors they see fit. Hatred is an element of struggle; relentless hatred of the enemy that impels us over and beyond the natural limitations of man and transforms us into effective, violent, selective, and cold killing machines. Our soldiers must be thus; a people without hatred cannot vanquish a brutal enemy. The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall."
