A 23-year-old El Cajon woman who managed to fraudulently purchase nearly $200,000 worth of vehicles has been arrested and faces multiple charges related to the spending spree.

According to a report from Lt. Frank La Haye of the El Cajon Police Department, authorities began investigating after Amanda Uribe purchased a $30,000 Polaris RZR off-road vehicle from Motoworld of El Cajon last December using a check from a closed account.

Further investigation led to a Mercedes dealership that reported Uribe had attempted to pay for service on a Sprinter 12-passenger van using a fraudulent account. It was discovered that Uribe had purchased the van and an Audi A4 sedan from a San Diego dealer for $81,500 using the same account.

During her brief run, Uribe also managed to acquire a $31,000 Lexus, a $20,000 BMW, and two other cars from local dealerships — in total, her haul amounted to $181,500.

Uribe was booked on charges of identity theft, burglary, and grand theft. It’s possible, police note, that as the investigation continues more vehicles or property may be recovered, resulting in additional charges.
