Cell phone bandit hits stores from Solana Beach to Chula Vista

Law enforcement officials are looking for help in identifying a man associated with at least five robberies at mobile phone stores in recent weeks.

The suspect, described as a white male in his 20s or 30s, standing between 5'10" and 6' tall, and weighing about 170-180 pounds, has been entering stores in locales ranging from Chula Vista to Solana Beach and Poway. While inside, he takes display model mobile devices and cuts security cables tethering the phones to shelves.

Over $7000 of loot from June 16 to July 17

Losses to date are estimated at over $7,000 in the incidents spanning June 16 to July 17. In more than one instance, the suspect has worn a red baseball cap with red shirt and black shoes, and fled the scene in a red 2012 Toyota Camry. On at least one occasion, he's been seen with a possible accomplice.
