Unemployment rate down, so are jobs

The September unemployment rate in San Diego County dropped to 5.9 percent in September, down from a revised 6.2 percent in August and from 7.3 percent a year ago.

However, the county lost 2800 jobs during the month, according to the California Employment Development Department. Jobs in food services and drinking establishments dropped by 2300, and arts, entertainment, and recreation jobs dropped by 2600. The big increase was in government jobs, up 4600.
