Baja fishing report

Cabo San Lucas has been reporting decent dorado, wahoo, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, and striped marlin action within 15-20 miles.

The La Paz area produced wahoo at Roca Montana, South of Cerralvo Island — even a few off the rocks near Punta Perico just outside of Muertos Bay. Dorado still dominate the catch in the 10-20 pound range, though with the onset of the winter season approaching, schools of bonita, roaming jack crevelle, and sierra are in the area. Pargo and some cabrilla to 15 lbs are also being caught off the reefs with roosters off the sand points and a few sailfish to be found offshore.

The Bahia Magdalena area is producing yellowtail, wahoo, dorado, striped marlin, and tuna offshore, with a few of the yellowfin tuna going over 250 lbs.

The Northern Baja Pacific coast continues to provide rockfish and lingcod fishing near shore, with tuna, yellowtail, and dorado offshore.

The Loreto and Mulege areas have started experiencing winter conditions with the wind picking up and the water cooling. Cabrilla, pargo, pintos and reds are being caught in 75’ of water. A few small yellowtail and dorado are in the same area, with some larger yellowtail in deeper water providing a challenge for those who find them.
