Three county lawyers disciplined

Cheating clients, drinking involved

According to the California Bar Journal, three county lawyers have been disciplined. Verne Craig Scholl of Carlsbad was suspended for one year and placed on two years of probation for five acts of misconduct with clients. Among other things, he wrongly did loan-modification work for a client in Illinois and collected illegal fees. He also misappropriated almost $50,000 from a client.

Jack Marvin Winick of San Diego was suspended 30 days and and placed on two years' probation for using his client's trust-fund account to pay for personal expenses.

Patrick Barnes Condon of Carlsbad was suspended 90 days and placed on three years of probation. In 2011, he had pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol but he did not comply with probation terms by not sbmitting seven quarterly reports on time. He had a pulmonary disease in 2011.
