Murder trial delayed for Carlsbad housewife

The trial of Julie Elizabeth Harper, 40, who pleads not guilty to the murder of her 39-year-old husband while their children played downstairs, has been delayed from April until June of this year, on defense request.

Jason Harper was found dead of a single gunshot wound, in the master bedroom of the couple’s Carlsbad home, in August of 2012.

Today, February 24, the judge also issued a “no contact order” to Julie Harper, directing her not to communicate by phone nor to send packages nor otherwise contact Lina and Homer Harper, the parents of the deceased.

Judge Blaine Bowman said the “no contact order” includes protection for the three children of Julie and Jason, who apparently are staying with Lina and Homer Harper.

“The children are potential witnesses at trial,” said Bowman.

Julie Harper bailed out a year after she was taken into custody, posting $2 million bond in September 2013.

The next hearing for this case is set for June 9 in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse.
