Sempra to get fat subsidy from Nevada

To rake in $66 million for solar-energy product

The Nevada governor's Office of Energy has approved $66 million in tax incentives for Sempra Energy to build a solar project in Boulder City in Southern Nevada, 20 miles from Las Vegas.

The tax breaks include $46 million in property taxes over 20 years and $20 million in sales and use taxes over three years, according to the Elko Daily Free Press.

The facility will reportedly be capable of powering 80,000 homes — but the power will be sold to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the City of Burbank under a 20-year contract.
