Camp Pendleton commemorates Korean War operation in 1950

On Friday, September 13, veterans from the 1st Marine Division and Republic of Korea Marines, gathered at Camp Pendleton to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the Inchon landing in Korea.

The military operation involved 75,000 United Nations troops — the majority of which were U.S. Marines — and led to the recapture of Seoul a couple weeks later.

The ceremony at Camp Pendleton, which was held at the Chosin Few Monument in the South Mesa area, also honored those who fought and died in the Chosin Reservoir Battle during the Korean War.

The dedications concluded with a flower wreath being placed on the monument, a 21-gun salute by the 1st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the 1st Marine Division Band performing "Taps."
