Treebeard trimmed?

The estate of English author J.R.R. Tolkien, creator of The Lord of the Rings fantasy trilogy, today announced a $4.4 billion dollar lawsuit against the Spring Valley company Treebeard Landscape, citing copyright infringement.

"Treebeard" says attorney Bill Baggins, the suit's representative, is the name of a character in Tolkien's story. Further, says Baggins, "as a member of the race of Ents, Treebeard is practically a tree himself. He would have been horrified to see his name used to advertise a company that, among other things, trims and cuts down trees. Remember, Saruman's decision to deforest the region around Isengard was part of what led the Ents to destroy it. But even if Treebeard Landscaping was devoted exclusively to the planting and nurturing of trees, it would still constitute a clear infringement of copyright. Just imagine Donald Duck Pate or Mickey Mousetraps! It's bad enough that we let that horrible Peter Jackson fellow make his silly movies out of Mr. Tolkien's sublime books. But this is just too much. Enough is enough."
