Drug-related arrest outside Brighton Ave. bathroom in Ocean Beach

Someone called the cops

I had just arrived at the beach at 11:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, May 27, when I saw a police van, a patrol car, and two officers handcuffing a woman outside the Brighton Avenue bathrooms.

She had only a few belongings with her and looked to be between 45 and 50 years old. She wasn't putting up a fight and seemed to be calmly accepting her fate.

When I asked an officer why she was being arrested, I was told it had to do with drugs and her being in the bathroom. Someone had called and complained. When I asked him if she was selling them or taking them, he wouldn't respond. She was loaded into the police van and taken away.

When I said to the officer, "Hope you have an uneventful day," he said, "Doesn't look like it's going to be."
