Illegal border crosser rescued after 2+ hour search

A manhunt spanning two-and-a-half hours early Tuesday morning (July 9) resulted in the rescue by Border Patrol agents of a 28 year-old Mexican national who got lost trying to enter the United States illegally near the small town of Jacumba in the Laguna Mountains close to the San Diego/Imperial county line.

A call came in shortly before 5:30 yesterday morning from the California Highway Patrol regarding the distressed man. After the Border Patrol’s search-and-rescue team combed the area of the man’s last known location, he was finally located by a helicopter assisting in the search around 8 a.m.

After administering medical attention on site, agents determined the man to be in good physical condition and not in need of further treatment. He was taken into custody and transported to the Border Patrol’s El Centro station.
