A former physical education teacher for Oceanside High School admitted to a probation violation on March 6 at the Vista courthouse.

Corey Lane Hogue, now 39, pleaded guilty in 2010 to having unlawful sexual contact with a student when she was 15 years old. Lane avoided a prison term in his plea deal of October 2010 and had been placed on probation and ordered to do 30 days of public service.

Hogue today admitted to going to a public park where children were likely to be found, according to his defense attorney. Hogue’s visit to the park was not approved by his probation officer. Prosecutor Laurie Hauf hinted that the probation officer had a longer list of complaints about Hogue, but this was the only violation Hogue admitted to in court today.

Hogue was sharply admonished by judge Aaron Katz to “comply with every single directive from your probation officer.” He was ordered to complete his sex-offender program, his access to the internet will now be monitored, and his term of probation was extended another year, to December of 2014.

At the end of the 20-minute hearing, Judge Katz told the offender, “If you violate probation again, I’m going to send you to state prison.”
