National Day of Action for Education at Mesa College

On March 1, students and faculty members at three local college campuses took part in the National Day of Action for Education.

Walk-outs were staged at City College, SDSU, and UCSD. Student rallies decried higher education budget cuts and the "on-going stampede towards the privatization of public schools and colleges," as the OB Rag noted in a story on the protest.

At Mesa College, where I attend college, a group of about 100 student activists massed in the quad area and chanted protests. The students then walked the campus, passing the lunch court and shouting for support from people dining.

Continuing toward the H-200 and H-300 building, the activists banged on windows of classrooms full of students, shouting, "Join us for free education!" The group then returned to the quad area, and leaders of the walk-out thanked everyone for their participation.
