Heavy Hawaii will play “Superbowl XXIX” at M-Theory on Saturday.

Heavy Hawaii will play a release party for their three-song 7-inch “Superbowl XXIX” (Art Fag Recordings) on Saturday, January 28, at M-Theory Music on Washington Street, beginning at 6 p.m.

Tim Flack’s full-length The Bridge Is on Fire drops February 10, with a release party set for Oasis House in Sorrento Valley. “Johnny and Heather Janiga [Podunk Nowhere, Black Sands] and Lindsay White will be performing the parts they did on the record,” says Flack, “and we may throw in a John Prine or Ryan Adams tune or something else sufficiently off the beaten path.”

Metal band Medius launch their debut full-length Burns Going Down on February 15, with a single called “The Way,” which is already available.

Chris Leyva has two new full-lengths due in February: a solo release, Live Learn Loose, and a vintage-rock collection called 1957, covering Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, Berry Gordy Jr., and others. The latter, jointly issued on local Blindspot Records and Black Cherry Group, will debut February 25 with a release party at the Griffin on Morena Boulevard. “Expect us to be fully dressed in ’50s attire and attitude,” promises Leyva. “Besides the songs on the album, we’ll be doing numbers that will be released later in the year as added bonus tracks, like Jerry Lee Lewis, a Marcels cover of ‘Blue Moon,’ some Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and a bit of Buddy Holly.”

Elan’s eighth album is in the can, with a single, “Bad Days Are Gone,” now available online, coproduced and mixed by Grammy-winners Rafa Sardina (Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray) and Michael Brauer (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney).

The Bloody Hollies appear on the new Alive Records compilation Where is Parker Griggs, performing the song “Dirty Sex.”

East of Sweden is working on a debut full-length with Mario Quintero at Black Box Studios on Broadway in Golden Hill. Miz Mandy and Jesse LaMonaca are both mixing full-lengths that contain mostly original compositions in a variety of genres.

The Jon Goodhue Band is recording an E.P. with P.O.D. bassist Traa Daniels, who will perform on tracks as well, while the Mosaic Quartet are recording demos with famed player and producer T Bone Burnett.

Over the next few weeks, expect new releases from Jeffrey Joe Morin, Steph Johnson, Levi Robinson, Safety Orange, Starcrossed, Delta Spirit, Psychosally, Lexington Field, and Anya Marina.
