Buffalo Killers' Dig. Sow. Love. Grow.

I’ve only heard one other Buffalo Killers record, 2011’s 3. I’m thinking this one shows a steady rise into the classic-rock stratosphere. From the first ringing chord and cymbal crash, Dig. Sow. Love. Grow. is a freshly fueled two-ton truck, hauling a fertile stash of sounds that incorporate the Allman Brothers’ dual-guitar slither and Joe Walsh’s knowing snarl. ‘Course, since these sounds were born, more or less, in the ‘70s, Buffalo Killers have the ability to make anyone who digs those sounds feel as comfy as we did during Dazed and Confused’s first scene.

The second track, “Hey Girl,” sends an early message: BKs are in the mood for mellow. Dig. Sow. Love. Grow. is a contemporary take on '70s sounds with some nostalgia for the late '60s. The trio’s as likely to emit something pretty, such as “Moon Daisy,” which sounds sweet when the smoke from the campfire’s rising and the sun’s setting, as to throw down one that encourages exhausted hikers to stand up and do the groove thing. Kind of perfect, as we head into August.
