Buy Chicken, Enjoy Kiss-In at Restaurant in Midway District

Chick-fil-A, the low-key fast food restaurant located at 3570 Sports Arena Boulevard, may get some undesired attention on Wednesday, August 1. Gay-marriage proponents, upset over the stance that Chick-fil-A CEO Dan T. Cathy took on gay marriage, plan to protest the eatery.

Cathy told the Biblical Recorder journal in early July that the company was "very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit."

In a June radio interview, Cathy brought the wrath of gay-rights activists down upon him by saying, "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'"

Christians are mobilizing to support Chick-fil-A by patronizing the chicken chain on August 1. Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee has urged supporters to buy Chick-fil-A food en masse on Wednesday,  while many same-sex couples are planning kiss-ins at Chick-fil-A restaurants.

At the Sports Arena drive-thru (which looked fairly busy) on July 31, I asked a cashier named Melissa if she was prepared for an interesting Wednesday. She replied, "About as ready as we will ever be.”
