Mission Beach Apartment Fire

At around 1:30 p.m. on September 30, a fire broke out at a three-story residential structure on the corner of Dover Court and Mission Boulevard. Five fire companies responded; it took almost an hour to get the blaze under control. The building was still smoldering at 5:00. Nobody was injured.

The complex included two apartments. As one of the first people on the scene, I noticed it seemed as though the fire started in the core of the building, where the garage was located. Less then 20 minutes after I arrived, both floors and all four sides of the building had flames shooting out from windows.

The apartment house is now considered a hazard due to the potential for collapse.
