MEN OF MANY TRADES, ROBERT AND KRIS OF CONTROL CENTER

“We want to bring people and music together for a higher cause than just making money or exposing people to our music,” says Kris Towne, co-owner of Controls for the Sun Studios in Linda Vista. Town operates the studio with bandmate/roommate Robert Garrity, who, along with roommates Mike Hams and Beranger Schladenhaufer, appear in various configurations as A Scribe Amidst the Lions, Knockout Bell, V Drago, Saint Lima Metz, Carson White and the Saint Cloud Sleepers, and Albatross.

Knockout Bell will be inaugurating a monthly benefit series at the Ruby Room on January 27 with Centerlight Pop and DJ Gonzo. Play it Forward will showcase Knockout Bell and various guests every third Thursday with the goal of raising money for charities. Proceeds from the first show will go to the family of Diana Gonzalez, who was slain at City College last October. Future shows are slated to benefit Nu Water International (a Sudanese relief foundation) and the LGBT Center.

In addition, Garrity and company are marketing their event-coordination expertise as Control Center Productions, a party-planning crew.

After a few test runs at private residences, CCP produced their first professional gig on Halloween weekend for the grand reopening of Skull and Dagger Tattoo in Miramar.
