University City Homes Rebuilt at Site of Marine Corps Jet Crash

Two homes destroyed by the crash of a Marine Corps fighter jet on December 8, 2008, have been rebuilt and occupied. One family has returned to their home after multiple years away in a rental. The other Cather Avenue property, where four family members lost their lives, is occupied by a new family.

The value of area homes — $500,000–$700,000, according to a real estate website — does not seem to have been negatively affected by the jet crash. Very soon after the accident, however, a number of “for sale” signs were spotted throughout the area. According to real estate records, 21 homes in the vicinity have been sold since the accident.
