Solarize It

Local artist Robert Guenther decided his old Ford camper van was a "gross-pollutant vehicle" (his words) and decided he wanted to install some type of solar-powered engine to run his car.

Lacking funds or any knowledge of how to build a solar-powered engine, he decided to make his van a rolling community mural in the hopes that some charitable enterprise would sponsor the vehicle and install the type of clean-energy engine he desires.

So far there have been no takers for sponsorship, but there have been plenty of locals and visitors stopping by to add their artistic stamp to his vehicle. Guenther is out near the O.B. Pier nearly every day of the week providing the paint and a friendly smile.
