Rumbling Rain

Street fair is street bare

What one foot pedaling into and around Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach on a Wednesday evening between 3pm and 8pm might incur is some local specialty cuisine, organic pastries, unique handcrafted jewelry, jamming music, street peddlers selling everything from incense to tile photographed pictures, and my favorite, the local passersby that can tell you everything you need to know about OB history. That is, every Wednesday except today, April 21.

The only loyal patrons that were at the street fare were the vendors. The normal customers were few, far, and in between. I walked from one end of the fare to the other with my arms spread out and didn't touch a soul.

The saying "it never rains In Southern California" held anything but truth to it today. The rains came pouring in one after another like an interval program setting on a treadmill. I know I counted at least 6 different times that the rain fell hard between the hours of 8am and 7pm, ranging in length of time from 35 minutes to 1 hour. Not to mention the continuous strong gust of cool winds.

The thick cumulus dark gray clouds came in one after another. One hour its was beautiful blue skies, the next there were the rumbling sounds of a Roman army forcing its way in, dumping rain on all who suspected they could "now" leave the sunroofs open.
