Ghost Slasher?

A man with lacerations on his face was seen hobbling around the 900 block of J Street at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, in the East Village. Employees from a nearby business came to the aid of the man and pulled him to the side of the establishment and contacted authorities.

Fire, police, and medical personnel responded to the call. The man — described as white and in his 20s — remained conscious but had slurred speech and exhibited a slow reaction time as authorities checked his vital signs and interviewed him.

“He was pretty intoxicated,” said a man who came to his aid. “He kept changing his story,” added a bystander. “At first he said he was knifed, and then later he said he got kicked around a bit.”

A police officer asked around to see if any of the businesses in the vicinity had outside cameras, but none were available. Other officers attempted to search the area for evidence to see if the man had been assaulted, but they did not find any leads or witnesses.

After hearing about the lack of evidence, a resident grew skeptical of the man’s story of being attacked. “He was probably just really drunk and fell flat on his face,” commented the local. Paramedics took the man away on a gurney and transported him to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if the victim had injuries other than the cuts on his face.
