Communication Breakdown

After two years of playing drums for alternative rockers Demasiado, Wade Youman has decided to move on.

“There were some creative issues with me and the bass player [Eric Shefstad]. We were banging heads, and it started to get out of hand. So, instead of letting it blow up on me like it has in the past, I just decided to step back and move on to other stuff.”

The former drummer of Poway pop-punk band Unwritten Law says he still has respect for Demasiado and its members and looks forward to promoting their new full-length set for release in June.

“It has hurt my feelings, in some sense, that we weren’t able to see it all the way through, but what I learned from playing in Unwritten Law is that communication is vital, and communication was something that Demasiado was lacking.”

Since leaving the band in March, Youman has been busy trying out for ’90s alt-rock giant Smashing Pumpkins. Two months ago, Billy Corgan’s manager contacted Youman and said Corgan was looking for a new drummer. Since then, Youman has sent them several demos and has been learning the drum tracks to Pumpkins songs. He has yet to hear anything back.

“I’m waiting for the call and crossing my fingers. I think I would bring some spirit to the band, but if it doesn’t happen it doesn’t happen.”
