No Great Trolley Robbery

La Mesa police detectives are looking for two teenaged girls who hit a woman in the head during a robbery at the La Mesa Boulevard trolley stop at around noon on Sunday, November 29.

The victim was standing on the trolley platform near Spring Street when the perpetrators punched her several times in the head and pulled the necklace off of her. She was pushed to the ground while she tried to fight off the teens.

“They were both [African-Americans] with one wearing a gray sweatshirt with a hood and dark hair with red streaks,” said an elderly witness who declined to be identified. “The other [perpetrator] had a dark T-shirt and jeans.”

The suspects, according to La Mesa police, are believed to be around 15 to 17 years old.

“They were big girls, and I was running to help the lady,” said George Marston. “But the girls were also fast to run away. Hopefully they have video here in this area.”

Paramedics took the woman to Sharp Grossmont Hospital, where she was treated for minor bruising to her head and face and a possible sprained ankle, according to a police follow-up.
