Dinty

I had these old roommates that used the word “dinty” to describe a good, hearty meal. I don’t know if it comes from Dinty Moore stew, which is not a good, hearty meal, but I liked it and adopted it. I use it mostly for comfort foods or things that stick to your ribs, like meat loaf and mashed potatoes and oatmeal. My friend’s Mom makes a really dinty chicken-and-dumplings dish that fills you up for hours. Thanksgiving and Christmas are usually dintyfull food times. Also, you can use it if you are too full to eat. As in, “No way, man, I’m too dinty for seconds!”
