Jackson v. Jackson

"I have not met or spoken to this imposter Action Jackson, but I would like to get a hold of him and simply ask him to stop using the name," says Jackson Milgaten of Action Jackson Promotions, which has produced events around San Diego for the past year. Someone else calling themselves Action Jackson Presents recently promoted a June 2 concert at Soma and a June 30 show at O'Connell's. "I came across this 'Action Jackson Presents a Pimp 'n' Ho Ball' with some band I had never heard of [Two Word Name], and I was quite pissed off... I mean, if you were going to start a band, you'd check and make sure there aren't any bands that already have the name, right? Especially in the same city!" Milgaten says he's applied for a DBA (doing business as) permit to secure legal rights to the Action Jackson promoter name.

When someone else is using my name to promote bands that I don't think are good, at venues I don't like...like Soma and O'Connell's, it makes me look bad. Not to mention the fact that I find the whole pimp-and-ho theme to be pretty offensive -- total frat boy, Pacific Beach bro bullshit."

The original Action Jackson is promoting a show at Scolari's Office on Saturday, July 28, with Milgaten's band Vision of a Dying World and Or the Whale from San Francisco. At this writing, the "new" Action Jackson has no future events on their elitebroadcastmedia.com website, and repeated calls to the phone number provided have never been picked up; the phone just rings until disconnecting.
