Radio on the TV?

Plans are afoot to resurrect Fox Rox, a weekly rock TV show on the local Fox channel.

"Yes, we are trying to figure out a way to make it work," says Richard Doutre-Jones, station manager of Fox 6, which launched Fox Rox in 2002. The locally produced show was canceled in March. Doutre-Jones says the "economics" of a revived Fox Rox are being hammered out with Internet and cell-phone companies, which may be involved in the show's production.

Doutre-Jones says a new producer has not been named, but insiders say former Fox Rox producer Scott Richison is likely to return in that same role. Patrick C. Sheeny, who still works full-time for Fox 6 news, would be part of the new crew.

Will former host Troy Johnson return?

"We haven't worked that out yet," says Doutre-Jones. Insiders say a list of potential new hosts includes Tim Pyles, host of the Sunday-night local show on FM 94/9, and producer/Rocket From the Crypt founder John Reis, who hosts a Saturday-night show on FM 94/9.

Although Doutre-Jones says the Fox Rox name has a "five-year equity" in the local market, the name of the new program may be different.

Doutre-Jones says local bands will be featured on San Diego Living, a new Fox 6 show to debut September 10. The program will air live, weekdays from 9 to 10 a.m.

KUSI-TV regularly hosts bands on Good Morning San Diego. A newsroom employee says the frequency of the band segments varies from once a week to every day.
