Short Shorts

After disbanding for a year and a half, Irradio will reform. Front man Dan Dasher remains as the only original member. He chose to finish writing the songs that became Irradio's third album (to be released next year), which will be titled I Am the Horn. Horn as in "horn players." Irradio added saxophone player Steven Welker, who sounds amazing mixed with the band's dreamy-ethereal vibe. The new lead guitarist for Irradio is Jim Hughes (ex--Transit War).

Ex--Transit War? That's right, but the Transit War is still going strong (they played with Against Me!, Bad Religion, and Seether a couple of Sundays ago). Transit War replaced Jim Hughes with TJ from Buckfast Superbee. While fans will miss Jim, TJ has embraced Jim's songwriting...and he has the youthful look that is more marketable. Buckfast Superbee is still together (they were scheduled to play at the Casbah last night).

You can plan on seeing an album from Maystar next year, but no one is sure how soon. May and Abe are working on recording the album with Daniel Crawford (guitar/lap steel for the Blackout Party), who is adding production and additional instrumentation to the minimalist stylings of the indie duo. What's holding up the Maystar album? May's vocals. Besides her admission that she needs to work on them, Maystar's MySpace page says she is overworked from doing promotions, booking the band, and organizing her monthly Fashion Whore fashion show.
