Aaargh!

Even though the FCC and U.S. marshals shut down Free Radio 96.9 in July 2005, transmissions resumed in November, and the station seems to be operating from the same rented building in South Park.

"We are currently fine tuning our signal and working on our audio source," reads a post at www.pirate969.org. "Steps are of course being taken to minimize future outages and [we] plan to recover from them quickly. And on a personal note to the San Diego FCC, we roll much deeper than you. Take our shit again, and we'll only clown you even harder when we come back."

Free Radio's landlord, contacted by phone, says he's unconcerned about any FCC violations.

"I think they pay around $500 a month," says the landlord. "It's a legal rental.... I don't believe they're breaking any laws, and I know I'm not." If the station is shut down again, besides having their new antenna dismantled, operators could be fined between $1000 and $150,000.
