Cheese It!

Twenty-five years ago today (11/3/80), the Police played Golden Hall with opening act XTC. The Police's Zenyatta Mondatta (and its first single, "Don't Stand So Close to Me") was in the U.S. top ten. The concert sold out, and gate-crashers were later found to have gained entry via the roof; a vent duct had been disassembled, and an unknown number of people had climbed into the hole, entered the elevator shaft, opened a trap door, and dropped in. The elevator faced an administrative area that led to the concert hall. The breach was discovered later because the gate-crashers neglected to close the elevator ceiling's door. The access was curtailed when cement was poured over the roof's vent bolts.
